Sunday June 27th @ The Lock Tavern. 4-11.30 - FREE!

It's time for the 7th slice of funk pie known quite simply as The Block at The Lock. This time it's all about not going to Glastonbury, but instead, seeking out some heat seeking Balearic monsterism from the record collections of this lot below - leave your wellies at home!

Seb Fontaine
Billy Nasty
Jon Carter
Guy Williams (Black Rabbit, DTPM, Paradise 45)
Stewart Rowell (Streetlife DJs)
Alex Blanco

Your much beloved Blockheads will be invoking the spirit of that great British festival institution for you in various ways.
Seb Fontaine will be searching for his tent using only the high beams of his 4x4.
Guy Williams will be holding a seance in the Green Fields channelling the spirit of Nile Rodgers, who wants it back. Cos he's not dead.
Stewart Rowell plans to sell oregano and Oxo cubes smoothed out with a spoon from the back of his psychedelic brown campervan. And probably earn a whole lot more than playing here.
Billy Nasty has been rehearsing a hour long set of roadie style microphone setup for your delectation. Altogether now "testing testing.. two.. two.."
Jon Carter will be hosting the naked mudslide down Chalk Farm Road. Alone
Alex Blanco will break down on the A303, hitch a ride for about 4 hour, lose his ticket, and get busted on the door.

In the spirit of all festivals known to mankind and beyond , we will be hosting a barbecue of epic proportions out the back, like.
Not in the spirit of Glastonbury, you won't be catching E-Coli from any or all of the above.

Join us. You know it makes no sense

Buzzin' Fly. Summer Opening Party w/ Ripperton, Ytre Rymden Dansskola, Mademoiselle Caro. Was On Saturday, June 26th. @ Cable London, 33A Bermondsey Street, London, SE1, 11pm - 6am

BUZZIN' FLY DROP THEIR FIRST BIG SEASONAL PARTY OF THE YEAR AT THE NEWLY RELAUNCHED CABLE ON SATURDAY JUNE 26

Ripperton, Ben Watt, Ytre Rymden Dansskola, Mademoiselle Caro and Franck Garcia, Chris Woodward

Buzzin' Fly's seasonal parties have always been one of London clubland's highlights, and the upcoming Buzzin' Fly Summer Party on Saturday June 26 from Ben Watt's esteemed imprint is no exception.

Leaving behind their recent run of sell-out sweatbox parties of Plastic People, the label steps up into the newly relaunched Cable near London Bridge for a two-room midsummer affair with a line-up encompassing not only their trademark emotive house sound, but deep Swiss techno, Norwegian balearic disco and Parisian electro-pop. The party is co-promoted with old friends, We Fear Silence.

In the main room, they welcome special guest, Ripperton. Hailing from Lausanne in Switzerland, Raphael Ripperton has inked his name as one of deep techno's cornerstone pioneers. As Lazy Fat People he delivered killer early cuts for Border Community, Wagon Repair and Carl Craig's Planet E, before releasing a string of bullets as Ripperton on hot labels such as Connaisseur, Steve Bug's Dessous and Radio Slave's Rekids. His debut album 'Niwa' was recently released on Joris Voorn's Green label, and underlines his commitment to a richly musical but lethally combustible underground sound. He is joined by Buzzin' Fly head honcho, Ben Watt, and longtime sideman, Chris Woodward (fresh from recent success with his Beatport-busting 'Village Vanguard').

In the second room, hot on the heels of their recent acclaimed somophore album 'Left' (Buzzin' Fly), Parisian duo Mademoiselle Caro and Franck Garcia deliver a special back-to-back DJ set for the first time in London. Blending Franck's indie roots with Caro's electro-techno DJ skills - she is resident DJ at the esteemed Rex Club in Paris - they concoct a sparkling electro-pop sound on record, but pepper their sets with mixed-up electro-rock, vibrant disco, alt-pop and house. Joining them are Ytre Rymden Dansskola. Meaning literally 'Outer Space Dancing School', the Norwegian cosmic disco duo are signed to Prins Thomas' uber-cool Full Pupp label, responsible for a superb debut album of low-tempo modern disco, and are currently recording with ace new Buzzin' Fly signings Flowers & Sea Creatures. Another London DJ debut.

Saturday 26th June sees Joris Voorn takeover the Box for the first of his ‘Presents’ parties at Ministry of Sound. The one time techno producer has seen an encouraging last few years with his ‘Beach Kisses’ rework being one of the biggest tunes of 2009. Now playing predominately house, the Dutch DJ makes his first London appearance of the year bringing with him 2000 and One & Deetron. Without a doubt, Joris is highly credited amongst the electronic music scene and looks set to have an even bigger 2010 with sets already lined up at Space, Ibiza.

The Button Club. The Fall of Rome Imperial Ball. Was On Friday, June 25th. @ Belair Park, 1 Gallery Road, Dulwich, London SE21 7AB, 10pm - 5am

The Fall of Rome Imperial Ball - The Button Club’s Summer Party

The Fall of Rome is a celebration of ancient Rome. The guests dressed as centurions, gladiators, Emperors and Empresses are treated to an ancient Roman feast, fun and festivities.

The empire has fallen into the hands of barbarians. Brave Romans have taken solace in Dulwicheum Capitoleum for one last time. They indulge in the pleasures of love and life, feast on the nectars of mother Earth and forget about the worries of what is to become of them when the new day dawns.

http://www.fallofrome.co.uk/

The Fall of Rome is a night to be decadent, daring and greedy. Think Julius Caesar, Roman centurions, gladiators, beautiful and manipulative women, power games and seduction.

8pm - 9.30pm Welcome drinks accompanied by harps and flutes.

9pm - 11pm Lavish feast in Roman style of spit roast, grill, sides and salads, cheeses and delicatessen, fruits, chocolates and sweets, accompanied by Roman wine.

Pleasurable activities on 3 terraces, 4 bars, gazebos and gardens.

DJs, musicians, fire dancers, living statues, temple dancers and gladiators.

Chariots at 5am.

The Emperor Tiberius Claudius Nero aka Ibi Issolah - Tiberius was one of Ancient Rome's greatest generals. But he came to be remembered as a dark, reclusive, and somber ruler. He is the proprietor of Dulwicheum Capitoleum.

The Empress Flavia Titiana Augusta aka Hofit Golan -The Roman Senate gave Flavia Titiana the honorary title of Augusta. A beautiful and powerful ruler.

Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus Caligula aka Richard Austin Rees - a noble and moderate ruler during the first two years of his rule, after this the sources focus upon his cruelty, extravagance and perversity.

Toi Toi. w/ Seuil LIVE and DeWalta (Meander / Vakant). Was On Friday, June 25th. @ The Basement, 12 - 18 Hoxton Street, N1 6NG, 10pm - 6am

Toi Toi is a promotion brought to you by Isis Salvaterra and Claus Voigtmann. These 2 individuals are known for being very 'picky' with their music and praise for the highest quality not only on track selection but technique, set construction and a very good dance floor feeling. A lot of dedication and time is put into researching the artists that are showcased at Toi Toi. There is a very fundamental reason why each artist is chosen, some of them you might know, some you don't so here is an insight into these reasons, the rest you will have to come and see for yourself when they are in action and have a boogie with us! ;)

If you got to this event page then you know exactly where to find our artist's bios however we have prepared them for you here:

http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?171110

Now, here, for all our events we would like to tell you:

******* WHY WE CHOSE THEM! *******

**Seuil LIVE (Eklo / Freak'n'Chic)**

This artist's last live performance blew us away at Fabric and even though he has since revisited us in London it was only for Dj sets. Alexis Bernard is one of the few producers that manages to keep his productions fat through a mix of maximising sound quality and good production skills. Above all he definitely fits into Toi Toi's overall concept which is what we call 'timeless music'.
A wide range of classical music background like 10 years of playing piano, jazz and blues formation, as well a few years of percussion gave him the feedback to work on electronic music composition. Led to electronic music by the discovery of the Perlon crew, that, mixed with the sophistication of his parisian counterparts we can state Seuil's music as being something like dark rolling basses along with modern shaking house, but always with the same groovy spirit, shake it !

**DeWalta (Meander / Vakant)**

We were looking for an upcoming artist which has not yet been London, or if he has, it went unnoticed for some reason. The idea here is to pick extraordinary talents which are being recognised elsewhere and fits to, again, Toi Toi's main concept built around music that is never old or new or hyped, it is simply GOOD MUSIC. We then found David Koch.
David was exposed to music at a very early age. He moved to Berlin to attend an elite music conservatory to play jazz taking part in Berlin’s young jazz scene. Just 2 years later he left the high school conservatory to attend the Hans Eissler Music College for jazz and pop where he studied saxophone, piano, composition, and music theory.
By listening to DeWalta's set from 2008 (a year where e-music was under a massive transition) we have come to realise that this very same set can be played now and we can still go WOW. Yup, we found exactly what we were looking for.

DeWalta - 5 years of Vakant set> http://soundcloud.com/dewalta

These 2 very special guests will take over the dancefloor from Toi Toi's Voigtmann and another special London guest who we cannot announce due to Fabric commitments. (for this one you will understand our choice when you see him behind the decks).

Hope to see you all there for, above all, a great music experience, the rest, well, the rest comes as a consequence....good vibe, good people....oh, and most importantly, a well equalised Funktion1 soundsystem for you...as of course...we are talking about music quality here!
