London, it’s time for something a little bit special. On the coat-tails of a cool summer that doused the city with unapologetic bliss; a beacon of warmth, hope and happiness comes, with love, from Belgium. Down_Under is one of Belgium’s finest underground club nights. The monthly shindig takes over the ever-sassy club Silo with a smooth blend of deep house and effortless Techno, and melds the local dance heads into a sweet and intimate frenzy.

Over their 2 year reign they’ve wooed the natives with their innovative stance and made name as one of the best underground event productions in the country; parading an impressive selection of artists which include Matthias Tanzmann, Mathias Kaden, Martinez, Federico Molinari, Ray Okpara, Christian Burkhardt, Luna City Express, Nick Curly,... The names speak for DU’s strong musical affluence, and so inspired by Belgium’s support, Down_Under surrenders to London.

Making its debut as the colder weather crawls in; Down_Under beckons you to come inside and join them on an intimate journey in the basement of CAMP, carefully chosen for its Silo-like feel- and great sound system. Bringing their sizzling sound and feisty-fresh atmosphere, Luna City Express takes the reign to represent as one of Down_Under’s favourite past guests. The boys will keep things heated below with Belgian residents Dezz Terquez, Jitter and new London resident, Cleber Malheiro.

Go Down_Under in London with monthly electronic escapades in the basement all winter!

LUNA CITY EXPRESS

Marco Resmann and Norman Weber are the feisty force that is Luna City Express. The Moonharbour artists reside in Great Berlin and have a knack for timeless and innovative house and techno sets. The duo have been producing together and dousing dancefloors with their tunage for over 10 years. Their debut album ‘Hello From Planet Earth, released in Autumn 2009 puts them firmly on the map of esteemed talent coming out of Germany. The album brought together 14 eclectic tracks ranging from techno to experimental and euphoric to deep electronica, with their single ‘Mr Jack’ resonating on dancefloors around the world and taking them on tour to Australia and all over Europe. Their special affinity to House music and their unique presence creates a lively atmosphere and makes for
an always incredible performance to witness.

DEZZ TERQUEZ

Dezz Terquez have steadily made their way into the heart of the Belgian electronic music scene playing at some of the biggest clubs and parties including Silo, Decadance, Café d'Anvers and Circoloco in Belgium. One half of the successful Down_Under production team; Jelte and Andreas are known for their deep, warm and rhythmical music, always grooving between the borders of contemporary house and techno.

JITTER

London living Belgian twins, Davy and Ken Vandegaer, are the dj and producer duo Jitter. Past residents of the infamous Cafe d'Anvers- one of the Antwerp biggest clubs- and the other half of Down_Under, their successful club night held monthly at Silo; the twosome have been steadily climbing into the London scene and lavishly laying their groovy double-take on house and techno on the discerning East End.

CLEBER MALHEIRO

Hailing from the musically fertile land of Brazil, Cleber Malheiro brought his tribal- inspired fascination with rhythm along when he moved to London several years ago. As part of the Uberbeat team of dj’s he recently took the stage in The Love Garden at Glastonbury and toured South Africa- playing at Truth in Johannesburg, Origin in Durban and at Chevelle in Cape Town. Cleber drops an innovative approach to Deep Tech House and Techno, with lashings of percussion and South American flair.

See you on the dancefloor!

Ekstravaganza. w/ Prins Thomas, The Idjut Boys, Optimo. Was On Friday, September 10th. @ Corsica Studios, 5 Elephant Road, London, SE17 1LB, 10pm - 6am

Prins Thomas, The Idjut Boys, Optimo, Magnus International

Having released his critically acclaimed debut solo album and established one of the best bi-monthly parties in town this year, you might expect Prins Thomas to rest on his laurels for a while.

But no sooner have the BBQ coals cooled down after July’s Summer Special, Corsica Studios have unveiled yet another blockbuster Ekstravaganza line-up, once again hand picked by Thomas from his bulging contact book of international disco/house/techno stars..

First up Thomas welcomes back his fellow Norwegian and Full Pupp label mate Magnus International who is guaranteed to get things warmed up in his own inimitable manner. Then Thomas plays his trump card inviting long term friends and collaborators The Idjut Boys to join him for an extended back-to-back session of psych-disco-boogie-soul-exotica in the main room.

In room 2 Glasgow club legends Optimo - unbelievably - make their Corsica debut and some debut too. No mere hit & run DJ set for JD Twitch and JG Wilkes though, instead they'll be hosting the second room all night long.

For those who never made it up to their notorious and already much missed Sunday sessions at the Sub Club this is undoubtedly the closest you'll get to experiencing that Optimo magic for quite some time.

Juno Plus presents. Firecracker Records with Linkwood, Fudge Fingas, House Of Traps. Was On Friday, September 10th. @ The Horse & Groom, 28 Curtain Road, Shoreditch EC2, 9pm - 4am

Linkwood, Fudge Fingas, House of Traps, Discreet Unit

To celebrate the first birthday of Juno Plus (the online magazine launched in 2009 by Juno Records), we are throwing a party with boutique Edinburgh imprint Firecracker, a label that has continually impressed us with a slew of superb EPs.

To be held in the intimate settings of East London boozer the Horse & Groom, we’ve got four of Firecracker’s favourite sons on the decks: Linkwood, Fudge Fingas, House of Traps and Discreet Unit. The five Firecracker EPs released so far have become stuff of legend, with limited 10” pressings replete with unique artwork that make them irresistible for the vinyl fetishists among us.

You’ll most likely already know Linkwood, aka Nick Moore, whose insouciant fusion of deep house, jazz, boogie, hip-hop and Detroit techno – first heard in the early Firecracker releases – was showcased magnificently in his 2009 full length System, released on Trus’Me’s Prime Numbers imprint. Next up on the bill is Fudge Fingas, aka Gavin Sutherland, a fellow Scotsman who has been with Firecracker since it was launched in 2004. His debut album is slated for release later this year and we for one can’t wait for it to drop. House Of Traps (the main man behind Firecracker) and Discreet Unit round off a killer lineup which sees the Firecracker family and Juno crew join forces. Supporting on the night will be the ever reliable supporting cast of Juno Plus DJs, who will be dabbling in the deeper end of house and disco.
